WASHINGTON, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced that the association achieved 4.5 percent national membership growth in 2006, increasing to more than 24,000 members nationwide. ABC has succeeded in achieving national membership growth in 13 of the past 14 years.

 

2007 ABC National Chairman Dave Meyer, founding partner of The Meyer Companies, Lee’s Summit, Mo., emphasized that the association’s member recruitment and retention efforts have been very successful in sustaining membership growth.

 

“We take a team approach that includes all our chapter staff, chapter boards, national board, national executive committee, national staff and national membership growth committee, all of whom recognize the importance of growing our association,” Meyer said.

 

“It is a partnership that requires a high-level of commitment, dedication and hard work from all parties. Once again, these efforts have paid dividends, helping to make ABC one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the construction industry.

 

“While many contractor organizations have experienced net membership losses during past several years, ABC continues its growth momentum,” said Meyer. “The remarkable growth that ABC has experienced since its founding in 1950 is a testament to the sound free-enterprise values upon which this association has been built.”
